Futures position size calculator

Use this futures position size calculator to find how many contracts to trade for a given risk and stop, using exchange tick values rather than guesswork. Enter your stop in ticks or points; the calculator shows risk per contract, total risk after commissions, the micro equivalent, and whether your account’s max-contract rule is the binding limit.

How it works

Risk per contract = stop in ticks × tick value (ES: $12.50 a tick, NQ: $5, CL: $10, GC: $10). Contracts = floor(risk amount ÷ risk per contract), then capped by your plan’s contract limit if one applies.

Micros are one-tenth of the mini: 2 ES ≈ 20 MES. If the calculator gives you 0 minis, trade micros — same exposure, finer control.

Bold Funded Futures accounts have a contract cap per account size (shown on your rules page) and no daily loss limit on Bold plans, so the trailing drawdown is the number to protect. Pair this with the trailing drawdown calculator.
